Happy Birthday, [livejournal.com profile] hardboiledbaby! Notice that [livejournal.com profile] fire_juggler has gone and podficced one of my S/H stories, Magic, just for you! What a kind friend, sez I - especially for the packaging. FJ has a terrific voice and an awesomely dry delivery. 10/10 recommend that you have a great bday, baby.

hey guys:

Thanks to some fine fans on Facebook, I've gotten motivated to re-offer Torn and Jericho as independent zines for your reading pleasure. Because of Reasons, neither of these stories will ever be offered online.

Torn (2004, 106 pages, click link to order) is only the second S/H story I ever wrote and has difficult content, so be fairly warned. 75 copies of this novella were originally printed, and it also traveled the world 2.5 times as a floating zine before one unfortunate fan selfishly kept it in Italy. But now you can own your very own copy for the low-low price of $4.99 plus shipping! Lulu ships internationally with quite reasonable rates. The summary: Undercover and out of reach, even the best efforts of the BCPD are unable to protect Hutch from being abducted and abused by a man with a vicious agenda. Now Starsky has to locate his best friend and rescue him. As always, the partners are short on time. (offscreen rape cw, recovery fic, Hutch h/c, first time.) Beta by Padawan Ula Luva, Brynn H and Lavender Jade.

Jericho (2005, 144 pages, click link to order) $4.99 + shipping. — originally published in VPC V by KeriT, cover illustration by Lorraine Brevig, beta by Dana Austin Marsh, this novel-length zine (137 pages) is a what-if set after Snowstorm. What if the boys in blue weren't too happy with Starsky and Hutch for taking down the dirty cops Corman and Burke? What would life be like around the precinct for our guys? (Casefic, Hutch h/c, emotional h/c for both our guys, rocky relationship.)

Both zines are perfect bound with glossy color covers and 12-pt type, trade paper interiors. Torn is on white paper, Jericho on cream.

Just FYI, the profit on these puppies is running me about .69 each, which seems oddly appropriate. Any profit I do make will be donated to The San Francisco SPCA, from which I acquired my one-eyed cat, Pirate Kitty.

To celebrate the release of these perfect-bound zines, and for the enjoyment of anyone who can't do zines for any reason, I'm publishing a new zine story online:

Hey kids: that crazy season is coming up, and appropriately enough, Sylvia B has provided a translation, in italiano, of my story, The Crazy Season, for all you Italy-based agents to enjoy. Her end-notes are an especial treat.

I believe she also has some more translations in store. :D

Happy Holidays!

happy ShareCON my sweets! [livejournal.com profile] hardboiledbaby has done an outstanding reading of Care and Maintenance (Gen, H/C, tag for The Psychic) – text. I love the way Starsky's voice breaks on "Hu-utch." Plus the motorcycle sounds.

Well, VegaSH Con is over and the vid show (thank god) is done.

My intro (right mouse-click and save) included a clip from the Hazards' "Shut up & Make Out" and Rihanna's "Shut up and Drive". My computer melted down (complete hard drive failure) a week before the con, which meant a frantic purchase of a back up drive, a scramble to transfer all the data and acquire another computer, and then get everything back up and running in time to get the show together and burned to disk before I flew to Vegas for the con.

By the grace of the cute Mac Geniuses it worked out. Here is a spreadsheet of the vid show!

Whew.

A message from the OTW:

GeoCities, a web hosting site founded in the mid-1990s which gave free
home pages to its users, will close its doors sometime in 2009 and take
down all its sites. Many fans used the site; therefore fandom will be
losing a lot of its early archives and resources sites when GeoCities
closes.

If you are the owner of a fanfiction archive or resource, meta or other
fannish page on GeoCities and you do not have another hosting
alternative, we can help! Open Doors is teaming up with the Archive of
Our Own and Fanlore to preserve as much material as possible.

Ms. Bird did podfic two of my stories! Blue and Pickle. I asked her: you had to pick my very first piece of fiction ever? But I think it's kind of wonderful, actually. This way people can see the progress (if any) I've made in my career. :)

Both podfic are linked here on the Starsky and Hutch Archive.
